Geocaching secrets!
Geocaching is becoming a very popular pastime for many people around the world. Liscombe Lodge offers Geocaching on its beautiful, nature filled property. This popular activity is becoming a common form of adventure travel. People are traveling all over the globe to find more unique places to geocache. So what is geocaching?
Geocaching is essentially a global hide and seek game. Geocachers use a GPS enabled device to track down geocaches. Geocaches are small tokens or gifts left in a sealed container with logbook to sign. They are placed in various hiding spots throughout the world using GPS coordinates. Anyone with a GPS can geocache. They are hidden everywhere from a cozy café in Paris to a pyramid in Egypt. Once the cache is found, you take a gift from inside and replace it with another gift. Some people make crafts, other people buy little key chains, and others leave hand written notes. The most prized gift is a geocoin. They are traceable and are collector’s items for many cachers. Another fun activity is creating the caches. Create the container, add some trinkets, plug in your GPS coordinates, and then you post it on the Groundspeak website for someone to find. Try it out sometime!
